Dr. Wm. R. Burges

Dr. Burges grew up in Castroville and returned home to practice after graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1976.   In 1992 he was among the first optometrists in Texas to become certified in therapeutic treatment of eye diseases. In 2000 he was again in the first group of Texas O.D.'s to become Optometric Glaucoma Specialists.  While providing full scope eye care, including contact lenses, Dr. Burges has long had an interest in children's vision and learning problems. He has served as a consultant to a number of school districts in South Texas.

When not busy at the office, Bill likes to do a little fishing, work with the Boy Scouts, and along with the best wife in the world, Mary Lou, visit the five best children in the world- Jeff & his wife Emily and especially granddaughter Kaitlyn, Rebecca & her husband John, Matt, Chris, and Joanna  & her husband Ryan.

Visiting Specialists

For over 20 years, visiting ophthalmologists have been seeing patients in Dr. Burges' office who require refractive laser surgery, cataract surgery or other tertiary care.  This has saved patients from having to make more frequent trips to San Antonio for further care.  Since 1992 this care has been provided by the doctors of Focal Point Vision Correction- Drs. Snip, Maverick, Lehmann, & San Martin.
